2027 Election: New Twist as APC Suspends Chairman, Gives Reason

According to a NewsVista reporter, political tensions are rising in Nasarawa State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward executives in Gayam, Lafia Local Government Area, announced the suspension of the party’s state chairman, Aliyu Bello, over alleged anti-party conduct.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, July 1, Gayam ward chairman Ibrahim Iliyasu accused Bello of openly supporting a rival party candidate, calling it a direct violation of APC loyalty and discipline.

“This suspension is based on Article 21 of our constitution. We have consulted widely, and the decision stands until higher party organs investigate,” Iliyasu stated.

The ward executives said Bello’s actions have embarrassed the party and threatened its internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, the APC state publicity secretary, Otaru Douglas, countered the move, claiming the suspension was politically motivated and linked to a rival governorship aspirant seeking to destabilize the party.

Later that same day, the state executive council passed a vote of confidence on Bello, signaling a deepening rift between ward leaders and the state leadership.

With accusations of anti-party activities and internal sabotage flying, political watchers say the crisis could weaken APC’s grip on Nasarawa if not quickly resolved.
