2027 Election Twist: Has Peter Obi Agreed to Be Vice President? Tinubu’s Aide Makes Bold Claim

Abuja, Nigeria – In what could shake the foundations of Nigeria’s political landscape, Daniel Bwala, a presidential aide to Bola Tinubu, has claimed that Labour Party’s Peter Obi has agreed to serve as a vice-presidential candidate in the upcoming 2027 general election.

Bwala, a former ally of Atiku Abubakar who recently joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made this statement during a podcast interview with SelahMeditate, triggering backlash and renewed debate about the opposition’s unity.

Obi’s Alleged Acceptance Sparks Outrage Among Supporters

Obi, who ran for president in 2023 under the Labour Party, has maintained strong backing from his followers—popularly known as the ‘Obidients’—many of whom have made it clear they would not accept anything less than a presidential ticket for him.

According to Bwala, the coalition between opposition figures is still active, and discussions have reportedly led to Obi accepting to run as Atiku’s deputy.

For those tracking political realignments ahead of 2027, this insider update is a must-see — details could change the direction of Nigeria’s political future.

Bwala stated:

“When people change party, Peter Obi criticizes them. But now he is discussing a VP role. His followers say the only reason they support him is to see him become president. Anything less, they won’t accept. Yet, he has been in meetings. He has accepted it.”

Backlash Online: Obidients Fire Back

The claims have sparked immediate outrage on social media, with many of Obi’s loyalists dismissing Bwala’s comments as political propaganda:

  • @sophiaDprincess wrote: “We voted Obi in 2023 and we’ll vote him again in 2027. Nothing will change that—not even APC media tricks.”

  • @Honlegacy1 added: “You used to attack APC and now you’re defending it. Integrity lost. No one takes you seriously anymore.”

  • @DeFireWithin said: “Bwala is on a sinking ship. Time will expose the truth.”

Cleric Warns Obi: “Don’t Accept Second Place”

Meanwhile, Rev. Dr. Jerry Nwachukwu, a respected cleric from Anambra State, has cautioned Obi against playing second fiddle in 2027. In an interview with Legit.ng, the pastor stated:

“Peter Obi is admired across Nigeria. But if he becomes a vice-presidential candidate, the Obidient Movement will reject the ticket. It would be his worst political mistake.”

According to Nwachukwu, Obi should either run for president or step aside completely, warning that any attempt to deputise Atiku could “disgrace him at the polls.”

Political Rumblings Continue

While the coalition between Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and other opposition leaders like Nasir El-Rufai continues to generate buzz, analysts remain divided. Some see it as a serious attempt to wrest power from Tinubu, while others dismiss it as loose talk without a clear vision.

In the midst of the speculation, a recent public appearance between Peter Obi and presidential aide Bayo Onanuga at a Lagos event has only fueled more curiosity about what’s going on behind closed doors.
