According to a NewsVista political report, the battle for the 2027 presidential ticket under the newly embraced African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition is already heating up. With key players like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi now in the mix, insiders say the race will be anything but ordinary.
Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson of the New Democratic Frontiers and former PDP Youth leader, told NewsVista that Atiku holds the upper hand going into the ADC primaries. He believes Atiku’s strong northern support base and political network—especially from defectors leaving both PDP and APC—gives him a solid advantage.
“The current northern power push will play a major role,” Akinniyi explained. “Atiku’s influence, goodwill, and wide-reaching structures are impossible to ignore.”
Meanwhile, Peter Obi has called for the ADC ticket to be zoned to the South, arguing it would promote equity and national balance. He’s also made it clear he’ll be on the 2027 ballot—no matter the platform.
With the ADC pledging a transparent primary, the stage is set for a fierce political showdown. Will it be Atiku, Obi, or someone else entirely? Nigerians are watching closely.
