225,535 children vaccinated in Kano LG polio campaign

The Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State has successfully concluded its polio immunization exercise, vaccinating 225,535 infants and children under the age of five.

This was disclosed by the council’s Information Officer, Salisu Yakasai, who confirmed that the immunisation targets were fully met.

“During the exercise, 225,535 infants and under-five children were successfully immunised,” Yakasai said.

The Primary Health Care Coordinator of Ungogo, Isa Nassarawa, hailed the exercise as a success while presenting the report to the council’s Acting Chairman, Munzali Alhassan.

Alhassan credited the achievement to the collaborative efforts of traditional rulers and parents, who, according to him, played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the programme. He urged them to sustain their support for ongoing health initiatives in the area.

He also called on health personnel to continue working closely with the local task force committee to ensure that the goal of eradicating polio is fully realized.

Malam Kofar Nassarawa further noted that health workers combed every part of the local government area, ensuring no child was left out.

He commended the support from the current administration and various non-governmental organizations for providing the necessary logistics and backing to make the exercise a success.
