Me and My Fiancé Are Going to the Restaurant, But Little Does He Know the Police Are Waiting for Him Because…

I met my fiancé two years ago, and he was everything you could ever want in a man: hardworking, handsome, and always going out of his way to make me happy. Neither of us had children, and we both dreamed of starting a family.

Things moved quickly. I fell pregnant three months ago. We were well-off financially, but he never talked about work. Whenever I asked him what he did for a living, he would always say, “It’s complicated; you wouldn’t understand.”

Everything seemed perfect. I was excited for our little one to arrive, and life felt like it had finally fallen into place. I couldn’t have been happier—until last night.

I received a message on Facebook from a woman I didn’t know. It read: “Is this your fiancé?” followed by a picture of him. The man in the picture looked like my fiancé, but he didn’t have a beard, and I’d never seen my fiancé without one.

I ignored the message, assuming she was a jealous ex or someone trying to cause drama. However, a few hours later, I received a second message: “Please answer me. If this is your fiancé, you’re in serious danger.”

That’s when my mind started racing, and everything began to click. Why didn’t he talk about work? Why didn’t he have any friends or family?

The next morning, I waited for him to leave for work, then reached out to the woman. What she told me would forever change my life.

The woman on Facebook claimed to be the mother of the woman in the picture. She said my fiancé was her son-in-law. Her daughter, along with her two grandchildren, had been missing for years.

She sent me police reports detailing my fiancé’s dark past. He was wanted in connection with the disappearance of his wife—his ex-wife—who was incredibly wealthy. According to the report, she and their children had vanished without a trace. My fiancé had left the country, changed his name, and altered his appearance to start over.

Horrified, I contacted the police. I tried to act normal around him, but he could sense something was off. He became suspicious of my behavior.

That evening, we went to the restaurant as planned. My fiancé said he had forgotten something in the car and went back to retrieve it while I got us a table. But nothing could have prepared me for what happened next.

I was arrested.

My fiancé had disappeared.

It was then I realized what “work” meant. He had opened fake companies in my name, stolen millions from investors, and taken out countless loans. Everything—our life, our happiness, our future—was a lie.

Now, I’m the one being held accountable for his crimes.
