Donald Trump: “If I have $50 million, I’m not going to give you $25 million after a divorce”

President Donald Trump, beginning his term as the 47th president of the United States, has announced his intention to reform divorce laws that he believes unfairly favor women in America. Addressing the contentious issue of wealth distribution in divorce settlements, Trump has argued that women should not automatically be entitled to half of a husband’s wealth simply because of their marital status.

In a bold statement, Trump said, “Just because a woman marries a wealthy man doesn’t mean she should automatically receive half of his wealth and become rich after a divorce. Divorce has turned into a lucrative business for women in the US, and I’m here to end that.”

Trump proposed a more limited approach to financial support following a divorce, suggesting that men could lend up to $1 million to their ex-spouses, but only with appropriate collateral. He insisted that this amount should suffice for women who did not contribute to earning the wealth, regardless of their marital circumstances or the presence of children.

His remarks have sparked renewed debates over marital assets and gender equality in divorce proceedings. Speaking on BBC World News, Trump reiterated his perspective, stating, “If I have $50 million, I’m not going to give you $25 million after a divorce. It’s my money, and I worked hard for it.”

As Trump re-enters the spotlight of American politics, his controversial stance on divorce laws has drawn both support and criticism, further fueling discussions on fairness and equity in marital separations.
