“When the Girl Woke Up and Realized What Was Happening, She Grabbed Junior’s Hand, And” Says Residents

According to Punch, the son of a landlord, identified simply as Junior, has gone into hiding after allegedly attempting to harm the 15-year-old daughter of his father’s tenant in Elele, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.

Reports suggest that on Friday, Junior approached the tenant’s younger children, aged 8 and 15, to inquire if their father would be returning home that night. After learning that their father would not be home, Junior allegedly broke into the house at around 1 a.m. the next morning (Saturday) and attempted to harm the 15-year-old girl, who was lying with her siblings.

A source familiar with the incident, speaking on condition of anonymity, explained:
“He started touching her. When the girl woke up and realized what was happening, she grabbed Junior’s hand. He then punched her and escaped through the window.”

The teenager quickly identified Junior as the landlord’s son using a flashlight and raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of neighbors.

Felix, the father of the girl, confirmed the incident, stating:
“I have reported the matter to the Elele Police Division. He (Junior) broke into my house at midnight in my absence and tried to harm my 15-year-old daughter. He ran away after the incident, and we have not seen him since.”

Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, noted that she had not yet received a report on the incident but assured that the matter would be followed up. At the time of this report, no additional details had been provided.
