A video that has gone viral shows respected bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo emphasizing the importance of financial independence and homeownership, particularly in the prime years of adulthood.
In her message, Bishop Felix-Adejumo challenged her congregation to reflect on their financial journeys, pointing out that by the age of 40, one should have already acquired land.
She underscored the need for individuals to lay a solid foundation for their future, advising that owning property is key to avoiding dependence on others, especially children, in later years.
“If at 50 you still have to be living in a rented apartment, I’m sent to you,” Bishop Adejumo boldly declared in the video.
She continued, “You can’t be forty years old and not have land, and you can’t be forty-five and not have property.”
Her words didn’t stop there. The bishop also advised married individuals, emphasizing that the number of properties they own should at least match the number of children in their household.
This, she believes, is a practical and responsible approach to leaving a legacy.
“When the Bible says, ‘A righteous man leaves an inheritance,’ the righteousness is not about the removal of earrings,” she added, calling for a deeper understanding of wealth and legacy.
Bishop Felix-Adejumo urged her audience not to live in such a way that would result in needing support from their children in old age. Instead, she encouraged parents to create an environment where their children feel privileged to bless them—not out of obligation, but from the heart.
“When your children come to bless you, let them feel privileged. Let it be to provoke something,” she said.
The bishop’s words have resonated deeply, with many praising her for her bold stance on financial empowerment and responsibility. Her call for self-sufficiency has sparked conversations across Nigeria, especially regarding the importance of property ownership as a foundation for long-term security and wealth.
Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo, formerly Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo, was recently elevated to the esteemed position of bishop by Bishop Francis Wale Oke, the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
The elevation ceremony took place at the headquarters of Agape Christian Ministries in Akure, Ondo State. The event was attended by various dignitaries, clergy, and worshippers, marking a significant moment in her ministry.
