Young Lady Brutally Beaten to Death by Boyfriend After Paying Him a Visit
A 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, has reportedly been apprehended by police in Alimosho, Lagos, for allegedly killing his girlfriend in an assault that took place in the Ijedodo neighbourhood. This information was reported by Punch newspaper.
According to sources, the tragic event occurred on Friday while the victim was visiting the suspect’s residence.
A local resident named Akin, who spoke with our reporter on Monday, revealed that the 23-year-old victim’s cries for help began to echo around midnight when she was allegedly being violently attacked by her boyfriend.
Adebayo reportedly appeared worried when he raised the alarm at dawn after discovering that his girlfriend had become unresponsive following the severe assault, Akin added.
The incident was officially reported to authorities at the Isheri-Oshun Police Division on Sunday by a neighbour of the suspect. A police insider, who requested anonymity due to not being authorized to speak publicly, confirmed this.
According to the source, the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment after the brutal assault, but she did not survive. Initially, the incident was not reported to the police.
The source further disclosed that the neighbour came forward two days ago, admitting that they had tried to revive the victim but were unsuccessful.
A squad of police officers was immediately dispatched to the location once this information became public, launching an ongoing investigation into the matter.
When asked about the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the case, lending credence to earlier reports.
Hundeyin further stated that the victim’s body showed clear signs of violence during an autopsy. Her remains have been sent to the mortuary, pending further investigation.
