Lagos Building Collapse: Rescue Efforts Ongoing as Victims Remain Trapped

A building under construction in the Idi-Araba area of Mushin, Lagos, collapsed on Sunday afternoon, trapping several people beneath the rubble.

According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, one adult male has been successfully pulled out alive, while search and rescue operations continue to locate others believed to be trapped. The agency’s spokesperson, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed that the collapsed structure was a one-storey building still under construction at the time of the incident.

Authorities are yet to determine the total number of victims affected, but emergency services remain on site conducting recovery operations.


Fire Breaks Out at Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, Contained Swiftly

Panic erupted at the Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital on Sunday after a fire broke out in a nursing room located on the second floor of the facility along Iju Road in Lagos.

Patients and visitors were seen fleeing the premises as smoke spread through part of the three-storey building. Fortunately, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly, preventing the fire from spreading to other areas of the hospital.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Fire Service Director Margaret Adeseye confirmed the incident was swiftly contained, and that regular medical services resumed shortly after. No casualties were reported.
