Halle Bailey Wins Right to Travel with Son Halo Amid Custody Battle with DDG

The legal dispute between singer-actress Halle Bailey and rapper DDG over custody of their infant son, Halo, continues to unfold with dramatic developments.

Just hours after DDG filed a legal petition on June 4, Halle Bailey responded with her own court filing — a clapback petition — questioning the timing of his actions and highlighting his alleged lack of cooperation with her earlier attempts to arrange monitored visits since May 13.

While her filing did not provide full details on those attempts, it did seek key protections and permissions from the court.

Key Requests in Halle’s Petition:

  • Permission to travel internationally with Halo for professional commitments.

  • A court order prohibiting DDG, his family, or associates from posting about her, their son, or the ongoing legal proceedings on social media.

This comes after a May 13 court order granted Halle temporary sole legal custody of Halo and a restraining order that barred DDG from coming within 100 yards of her, following allegations of physical and verbal abuse and claims that he incited online hate against her by rallying his fanbase.

Court Ruling Favors Halle

On June 5 at 9:42 a.m., TMZ reported that a judge officially denied DDG’s attempt to block Halle from traveling with Halo. The court cleared Bailey to proceed with her two-month work trip to Italy, scheduled for Saturday, June 7.

Later that evening, Judge Latrice A.G. Byrdsong issued a partially granted temporary restraining order, ensuring:

  • Bailey must not engage in any form of abuse against DDG,

  • But Halo will remain in Halle’s custody until the next court hearing on June 24.

The judge wrote:

“The court finds insufficient evidence of imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child during petitioner’s business trip to Italy. Further evidence is required at a noticed hearing for the court to issue more restrictive orders.”

DDG’s Attorney Responds

DDG’s legal counsel confirmed the developments in a statement to XXL, asserting the rapper’s intention to handle the matter “through legal channels” rather than the “court of public opinion.”

Summary:

  • Halle Bailey has court approval to take Halo to Italy for work.

  • She maintains temporary sole custody.

  • DDG’s legal petition was filed after the expiration of Halle’s TRO.

  • Next hearing is scheduled for June 24.
