Rep. Buddy Carter Nominates Donald Trump for Nobel Peace Prize Over Israel-Iran Ceasefire Deal

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize once again—this time for his reported role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, ending what has become known as the “12 Day War.”

The nomination was submitted by Republican Representative Buddy Carter of Georgia, who praised Trump’s “extraordinary and historic role” in halting armed conflict between the two longtime adversaries and preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

In a formal letter to the Nobel Committee, Carter wrote:

“President Trump’s influence was instrumental in forging a swift agreement that many believed to be impossible… His bold, decisive actions ensured that the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring a nuclear weapon.”

Trump had announced the ceasefire late Monday, following a turbulent series of events:

  • Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran, citing imminent nuclear threat concerns.

  • Rocket exchanges ensued between the two countries.

  • The U.S. intervened, bombing three of Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend.

  • Iran retaliated by firing rockets at a U.S. base in Qatar—but reportedly gave advance notice, preventing casualties.

Rep. Carter emphasized that Trump’s actions not only prevented further bloodshed but also “exemplify the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize.”

“In a region plagued by historical animosity and political volatility, such a breakthrough demands both courage and clarity… President Trump demonstrated both, offering the world a rare glimpse of hope,” Carter added.

While Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize multiple times, including for his efforts in the Abraham Accords, he has yet to win the prestigious award. This latest nomination comes amid renewed debate over his international legacy and growing speculation about his influence on global diplomacy heading into the 2026 U.S. election season.
