Today’s Headlines: PDP Long Dead – Wike; Explain Sudden Sack of Service Chiefs, ADC Tells Tinubu

PDP Long Dead – Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is “long dead,” blaming its collapse on arrogance, impunity, and poor leadership. During his monthly media chat in Abuja, Wike said the party’s disintegration was inevitable as his earlier warnings about internal disorder were ignored. He criticised PDP governors for presiding over the party’s downfall and maintained that their refusal to unite or respect internal democracy destroyed the opposition’s credibility.

Wike dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu had stopped his media engagements, describing such reports as false. He also denied rumours about his health, insisting he had never been flown abroad for treatment.

Explain Sudden Sack of Service Chiefs, ADC Tells Tinubu
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to explain the sudden removal of the nation’s service chiefs, saying Nigerians deserve transparency amid speculation. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the timing of the shake-up—coming shortly after rumours of an attempted coup—requires clarity.

The ADC warned that such abrupt changes could heighten public anxiety, stressing that the administration must reassure citizens that Nigeria’s democracy remains secure.

2027: NNPP Open to Alliance with Tinubu, Jonathan, Obi – Kwankwaso
Former Kano State governor and NNPP presidential candidate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has said his party is open to forming alliances ahead of the 2027 elections with any political group or individual who shares its vision for a better Nigeria. Speaking with BBC Hausa, he mentioned that the NNPP would consider working with figures like President Bola Tinubu, former President Goodluck Jonathan, or Labour Party’s Peter Obi—if such collaboration benefits ordinary Nigerians.

Kwankwaso emphasised that any alliance must be built on integrity, competence, and mutual respect, not personal ambition.

My Expulsion as SDP National Chairman Illegal – Gabam
Suspended SDP National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, has rejected his expulsion from the party, calling it illegal and orchestrated by impostors. In a statement signed by his aide, Abubakar Baba, Gabam said the meeting that led to his removal was unconstitutional and presided over by someone without authority.

He accused National Secretary Dr. Olu Agunloye of violating INEC rules by reporting the “illegal” decision and reaffirmed his leadership with INEC-certified documents. The dispute follows allegations of financial misconduct and disloyalty, which Gabam insists are politically motivated.
