Bafana star Kekana warns against underrating Nigerian champions

According to our reporter, Mamelodi Sundowns defender and Bafana Bafana star Grant Kekana has cautioned his teammates not to underestimate Nigerian champions Remo Stars ahead of their CAF Champions League return leg in Pretoria.

Despite the South African side’s dominant 5–1 first-leg victory in Nigeria, Kekana described the encounter as “far from easy,” praising Remo Stars for their aggression and tight marking throughout the match.

“Remo Stars are a good side. They made things very difficult for us, but our mentality and teamwork helped us get the result,” Kekana said.

He, however, urged his teammates to stay focused and avoid complacency in the return leg, warning that qualification for the group stage is not yet secured. “It’s only half-time; we still have another game to finish the job,” he added.

Kekana also expressed the team’s strong desire to reclaim continental glory, noting that while Sundowns have dominated domestic football, the CAF Champions League remains their biggest goal this season.
