According to our report, former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Bode George, has slammed the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which stopped the party’s planned national convention slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan.
The court, presided over by Justice James Omotosho, had issued an order halting the event over claims that the PDP failed to conduct valid state congresses before preparing to elect new national officers.
But Bode George, reacting to the judgment, described it as an unnecessary interference in the party’s internal affairs. He wondered why the court acted without first hearing from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) — the very body that monitored all PDP congresses and raised no objections.
“The judge did not invite INEC officials. So why is Justice Omotosho complaining? INEC saw everything; they never reported any irregularity,” George stated.
He warned that such judicial interference could damage internal democracy and erode public trust in the judiciary.
Bode George further urged PDP members across the country to remain calm and united as the party explores legal means to overturn the decision.
“The PDP has always followed due process since 1998. The judiciary should protect democracy, not weaken it,” he added.
