Kwankwaso Reacts To Trump’s Designation Of Nigeria As A Country Of Particular Concern, Caution Trump

Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has called for calm, national unity, and diplomatic engagement following U.S. President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

Posting on his verified X handle on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Kwankwaso warned against inflaming tensions, stressing that Nigeria’s security challenges affect all citizens regardless of religion or ethnicity.

He urged the U.S. to support Nigeria with technology and intelligence rather than threats, while advising the Nigerian government to strengthen diplomatic channels by appointing seasoned envoys and permanent ambassadors to engage Washington and other international partners.

Kwankwaso also called on Nigerians to rise above political and religious divides, emphasizing unity in the face of external pressures.

“To my fellow countrymen, this is an important moment where we should emphasise unity of belonging over division,” he concluded.
