They closed the door and kept shooting, I prayed vigilantes would come, but no one came- Mrs. Lekyil

According to our report, Mrs. Lekyil, widow of slain Plateau pastor Mimang Lekyil, has given a heartbreaking account of the night her husband and seven others were murdered by armed Fulani attackers in Bokkos LGA.

She recalled that the gunmen stormed their home late at night, calling out to her husband in Hausa — “Baba, ka zo” — before opening fire. “They closed the door and kept shooting. I prayed vigilantes would come, but no one came,” she said, describing how she hid as bullets tore through their bedroom.

Her husband, the COCIN Church leader in Kwakas-Mushere, was killed instantly, while she sustained gunshot wounds to her legs. The attackers also abducted her visiting sister before fleeing.

The tragic assault has renewed fears across Plateau communities still reeling from a series of faith-targeted killings and unending security failures. Your phone could be secretly spying on you. Turn off these 3 settings immediately before it’s too late. – Read Original
