Nigerian street-pop sensation Portable has revealed his decision to return to school — this time, with the goal of gaining proper knowledge of the music business, royalties, and label management.

In a recent statement, the singer, known for his energetic personality and viral hits, said:

“I want to go back school, I get money and I get influence but many people use to abuse me that I did not go to school. I want to go and finish my education, I’ve made up my mind that I need to go back to school to enable me learn how to manage my music business properly. I need to understand music royalties and business deals better, especially for my label. Education isn’t a scam. Even the Kwara poly I went, I was dismissed, no certificate, nothing nothing. I must go back to school to learn about this music business very well.”

Portable further disclosed that although he once attended Kwara State Polytechnic, he never graduated or collected his certificate because he was dismissed before completing his studies. Despite this setback, the singer emphasized that his determination to pursue education has now been rekindled.

He stated that returning to school will help him learn how to properly handle his music brand, understand royalties, and negotiate fair deals for his record label and artists.

Portable’s decision has earned mixed reactions online, with many praising his resolve to continue his education despite fame and wealth. His message stands as a reminder that education remains valuable, no matter one’s social or financial status.

By choosing to go back to school, Portable hopes to set a positive example for young artists, showing that success in entertainment can go hand in hand with academic growth and personal developmen
