Abducted Kebbi Deputy Speaker regains freedom

The Deputy Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo, who was kidnapped by gunmen has regained his freedom.

 

Bagudo was kidnapped from his hometown in Bagudo Local Government Area on Thursday, October 31, shortly after observing his evening prayers and leaving the mosque for his residence. 

 

The gunmen reportedly stormed the town, seized the 60-year-old lawmaker, and took him to an unknown location. 

 

The spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, who confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday, November 9, said Bagudo has been reunited with his family after receiving treatment at a medical facility.

 

The Kebbi State Police Command is using this medium to commend the courage, resilience and bravery of the combined team of security personnel deployed for search and rescue operations during the unfortunate incident, as well as appreciated the good people of Kebbi State, who provided the Command with vital and accurate information which has been utilized to ensuring the safe return of the Honourable member,” the statement read.

 

“Consequently, the State Command reiterated its sustained onslaught against banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, urging residents of the state to remain calm, vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or other security agencies for prompt response, please.”
