15 girls rescued as Ondo police bust s#x trafficking syndicate

Men of the Ondo state police command have rescued 15 young girls from a notorious s#x trafficking syndicate exploiting women under the guise of job recruitment and social media content creation.

Police sources say they received intelligence report about the nefarious activities of the s#x traffickers. Following an investigation, the Command’s SWAT Unit arrested Jayeola Joshua of Alagbaka, Akure, and two accomplices. Police sources say the syndicate reportedly lured victims from across the country with promises of domestic work, ushering services, and overseas employment and upon their arrival in Akure, the girls, aged 20 to 26, were confined in an apartment used as the operational base.

Police sources said the victims were coerced into sending explicit images and videos to clients procuring sexual services. The operation was disguised as “relationship content” on social media, masking its criminal intent.

Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the victims have been moved to the Police Hospital, Akure where medical care, counseling, and psychological evaluation will be conducted on them. The police imagemaker added that the case has been transferred to the Command’s Gender Desk for further investigation and reintegration of the victims.
