Major General E.F. Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army in Jos, Plateau State, has assured Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo of full protection amid growing fears for his safety. The assurance followed reports that the clergyman’s life was under threat for speaking against the persistent killing of Christians in Northern Nigeria.
During a visit to Rev. Dachomo’s church, captured in a video shared by Voice TV, General Oyinlola directly addressed the congregation. His visit came after reports suggested that some unidentified groups had allegedly marked the pastor for assassination due to his vocal stance on insecurity and attacks on Christian communities.
Commending the clergyman’s courage, Oyinlola told him, “Pastor, I heard you say that you are ready to die. I want to assure you that nobody can kill you until God says it’s time for you to come home.” His statement drew applause from church members and quickly went viral online, sparking conversations on the importance of protecting religious leaders who speak against violence and injustice.
Reverend Dachomo, a prominent voice for peace and justice in Plateau State, has been consistent in calling on the government and security agencies to protect vulnerable communities from recurring assaults.
General Oyinlola reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army remains committed to safeguarding all citizens, regardless of their faith or background. He added that under his watch, no citizen should be silenced or threatened for standing up for the truth.
