Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a stern warning to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, urging him to prioritize the welfare of citizens over personal wealth accumulation.
In a video shared on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Ayodele advised that leaders who fail to use their resources to benefit the people risk political disgrace. “The billions you have now, use them to help people, and you will become an ex-governor forever,” he said, emphasizing that generosity and service are key indicators of successful leadership.
Ayodele stressed that ignoring this counsel could result in political isolation and rejection by the electorate. Leaders who hoard wealth or misuse public funds, he warned, may lose public support, making their efforts and resources meaningless. “If you don’t help your people, all your achievements will be meaningless,” he added.
The cleric further highlighted that wisdom, divine guidance, and ethical governance are more important than personal ambition. According to him, leaders who seek spiritual insight and act responsibly are better equipped to manage crises, drive development, and maintain public trust.
Primate Ayodele concluded by urging Governor Makinde and other public officials to prioritize service over self-interest, reminding them that a true legacy is measured by the positive impact on the lives of citizens.
