That Officer Was Referring To A Policemen As ‘Bloody Policemen’ The Policemen Got Angry-Olayinka

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the FCT Minister, has shed light on the recent confrontation in Abuja’s Gaduwa District, where soldiers reportedly blocked Minister Nyesom Wike and FCTA officials from accessing a disputed parcel of land.

Speaking to Channels Television, Olayinka said the incident escalated when Wike handed Lieutenant A.M. Yerima the phone to communicate with the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS). According to him, the officer was not properly speaking to the CDS and displayed arrogance during the interaction. “That officer was referring to policemen, fellow uniformed men, as ‘bloody policemen.’ You can’t talk to me like that. I am a commissioned officer, and the policemen also got angry,” Olayinka stated.

The FCTA aide explained that the incident highlighted a lack of discipline and respect, noting that such behaviour undermines the professionalism of the armed forces and unnecessarily escalates tensions. He added that the confrontation arose from a land development dispute, with Lieutenant Yerima reportedly preventing FCTA officials from performing their duties.

Olayinka emphasized that Minister Wike’s intervention was essential to ensure proper procedures were followed and to prevent further escalation of the situation.
