Afrobeats superstar Kizz Daniel has broken his silence on the controversy surrounding his failure to perform at his scheduled concert in Paris. The singer explained that the situation was caused by a financial disagreement between his tour agent and the event’s promoter — a clash that ultimately delayed his travel plans.
In a detailed post shared on his Instagram story, the “Buga” hitmaker clarified that he was fully prepared to perform but circumstances beyond his control led to the unfortunate outcome. He said his agent, Olamide Baron, who was responsible for organizing his European tour, had sold the Paris show to another promoter who allegedly breached their agreement by failing to pay the outstanding balance.
“First, this wasn’t my fault. Whatever clips y’all are seeing is a beef between the tour Agent @olamidebaron and the show promoter,” Kizz Daniel wrote. “I was paid to come perform in Paris by @olamidebaron in full, he sold the show to another promoter and according to him the promoter breached his contract by not paying him his balance.”
According to Kizz Daniel, the financial dispute between the two parties resulted in travel delays that made it impossible for him to arrive in Paris on time. The singer explained that he had been ready to fly hours before the scheduled departure but his agent delayed the trip in a bid to resolve the issue.
“I’ve been ready since 6am for a 12:25pm flight, thankfully my brother @adesope_shopsydoo was with me at the hotel. We were delayed from flying by @olamidebaron so he could get his money which I wasn’t aware of until later. He resolved the issue with the promoter but we couldn’t make the flight. The next available flight according to Baron was 5:25pm,” he explained.
By the time Kizz Daniel arrived in Paris, it was already late in the evening, and though he made efforts to get to the concert venue, he discovered that it had already closed for the night. He maintained that he was eager to perform for his fans and refuted claims that he made unnecessary demands or refused to show up.
“We came into Paris late because of an unresolved issue between two promoters. I was paid and was ready to perform!! I never requested for a type of car or asked they bring an Escalade, all lies. I’ve been going to shows in rented cabs since I got to Europe. I came to the venue still because I wanted to perform, unfortunately the venue closes by 11pm according to the promoters… I tried my best to make this run a smooth one. But sometimes ‘e get as e be’,” he said.
Kizz Daniel also took the opportunity to address previous claims about his reliability, pointing out that he had already performed successfully at other stops on his European tour despite various challenges. He shared that in both Italy and Sweden, he managed to deliver energetic performances even when the shows ran late into the early hours of the morning.
“As for the first 2 shows we did — Italy & Sweden — I got to the venue at exactly the time given to me to arrive. Sometimes promoters want to wait till they have a full hall before performance. I performed 4am in Parma (from getting ready since 8pm).
“1:30am in Sweden (from getting ready since 9pm). I couldn’t do a full set in Sweden because the venue was gonna shut down due to curfew. As for Amsterdam I’m here and ready. The promoter gave 3am as performance time (I have it in recording). And I will be there by HIS Grace.
“Cologne. The promoters gave 10pm as performance time and I will be there. Excited,” he added.
The singer’s detailed explanation comes after multiple online clips went viral, with fans expressing disappointment over his absence in Paris. However, Kizz Daniel’s clarification has shed light on the behind-the-scenes issues that led to the incident.
While apologizing indirectly through his tone, Kizz Daniel reassured fans of his commitment to completing his European tour and delivering memorable performances at upcoming shows in Amsterdam and Cologne.
His statement also highlighted the complexities artists often face while on international tours — from promoter disputes to scheduling conflicts — showing that sometimes, what fans see on stage is only a fraction of the full story behind the scenes.
