Ali Abdulrahman Tanko, recently sentenced to community service by Sharia Court 1 in Kofar Kudu, Municipal Local Government Area, has spoken out regarding the incident that led to his conviction.
According to a Daily Trust News report on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Tanko said he only pushed his wife during a domestic disagreement, and she fell on an open drawer, sustaining injuries. He denied hitting her with a pestle, contrary to earlier claims in court.
Tanko recounted that the misunderstanding began when his wife requested money for detergent. He said he was still in bed when she pulled off his cover and began shouting, prompting a momentary push. “I only pushed her, and she fell on an open drawer and got injured. I didn’t hit her with any pestle,” he explained.
He further stated that the chemist who treated his wife would confirm that her injuries did not appear consistent with being struck by a pestle.
Full court details and additional statements from Tanko are available on Newshost Buzz.
