Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has addressed criticisms about his political stance, emphasizing that his ministerial duties are guided by law and conscience, not party affiliations. Speaking during a Channels TV briefing, Wike reassured Nigerians that his support for President Tinubu is based on personal conviction and does not compromise his official responsibilities.
“Whether you are in APC, PDP, or ADC, it’s not my business. I have no regrets supporting President Tinubu,” Wike stated, highlighting that governance requires impartial enforcement of the law regardless of political loyalties.
He criticized attempts to politicize government actions, particularly in land disputes and matters of public order, insisting that officials carrying out legitimate duties should not face harassment or undue pressure. Wike emphasized that respect for institutions, adherence to due process, and prioritizing accountability over personal or political interests are essential for national progress.
According to the minister, no country can develop if laws are flouted based on connections or influence. He reaffirmed that his decisions as FCT Minister will continue to be guided by justice, fairness, and effective administration, urging the media and public to focus on facts rather than partisan narratives.
