I’ll continue giving my opponents in APC, PDP, ADC sleepless nights’ – Wike

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has said he will continue to give his political opponents “sleepless nights,” insisting that he has no regrets about his recent actions or statements. He made this known on Thursday during a media briefing held shortly after the FCT Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.

Wike, addressing the controversy surrounding his confrontation with Naval Officer Lt. A.M. Yerima at a disputed land site in Gaduwa, said his stance remains firm. The land, originally allocated for parks and recreation, was allegedly being altered by its owner, former Chief of Naval Staff Awwal Gambo (rtd). Attempts by FCT officials to halt the conversion were reportedly obstructed when military officers stopped them from carrying out their duties.

The minister said he visited the site with his team to enforce planning regulations but was prevented from accessing the property by Yerima and other officers, leading to the heated exchange that has since generated nationwide debate.

Speaking on his political critics, Wike said his opponents—whether in the PDP, APC, or ADC—would continue to feel his impact as long as he operates within the boundaries of the law. He added that no level of ethnic or political framing would distract him from carrying out his responsibilities in the FCT.
