Political activist and PDP member, Dickson Iroegbu, has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to speak directly to Nigerians regarding the country’s escalating challenges. The report was published by Arise News on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Iroegbu criticized the President for remaining largely silent despite the loss of lives and worsening national issues. He stressed that a public address is necessary to demonstrate empathy and leadership. “This is a time for the president to also address the nation because these lives matter,” he said.
The activist dismissed the recent suspension of some foreign travel as a symbolic gesture, arguing that it does little to resolve pressing domestic concerns. “It’s not enough to play to the gallery of canceling international engagements. Stay back to do what, Mr. President? We haven’t seen you yet. We haven’t heard from you yet,” Iroegbu remarked.
He further expressed disappointment that the President has not publicly conveyed grief or concern over the nation’s current hardships. “We haven’t seen you express grief about the state of our country, and that is a cause for concern,” he said.
Iroegbu concluded by urging the government to focus on governance rather than the next election cycle: “Enough of the destruction of 2027. Let us face governance. That’s what we can tell the president at this time.”
