senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President, has stressed that while Northern Nigeria faces significant challenges, these issues do not define the region or its people. Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), he highlighted the North’s resilience, unity, and determination in overcoming adversity, as reported by PUNCH on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Representing the Senate President, Barau noted that insecurity, social unrest, and developmental setbacks should not overshadow the North’s legacy. He cited examples of communities coming together throughout history to address hardship and emphasized the importance of maintaining regional solidarity.
He also praised the ACF for its role in advocating for the North, facilitating dialogue, and shaping policies that contribute to national development. According to Barau, the forum’s founders deserve recognition for their foresight and dedication to promoting regional progress.
“Reports and data may point to our problems, but they do not define who we are,” Barau said, reaffirming the North’s reputation for courage and determination.
