Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church Worldwide, has issued a warning over security in the Southwest, revealing that Ekiti and Oyo States remain “partially unsafe” as Nigeria enters a sensitive period in the fight against terrorism and banditry.
During a prophetic broadcast on Facebook, Ayodele urged security agencies to strengthen surveillance and early-response measures across the region. He reassured that Lagos remains secure but cautioned that threats could emerge in other states if security lapses occur. “They can’t strike Lagos; they might want to, but it’s not possible. Lagos is safe. But there are some states in the Southwest that are not totally safe. Ekiti and Oyo are partially unsafe. There must be serious security watch,” he said.
The cleric emphasized that his warning is intended to promote preparedness, not panic. He highlighted the need for coordinated security measures to protect vulnerable areas, particularly soft targets that could be exploited by armed groups.
Ayodele also addressed the Nigerian Army, calling for enhanced protection of personnel, intensified air surveillance, and adequate resources to reduce risk. He warned that the coming week would be particularly challenging for security forces and urged federal authorities to prioritize the country’s safety over political activities. “Let everybody stop campaign. Let us face what we have on ground now,” he added.
The cleric concluded by calling on President Tinubu to take decisive action to suppress terrorism and prevent potential foreign intervention.
