Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke Isegun in Eruku, Kwara State, held a somber Sunday service as members gathered to pray for the safe release of worshippers abducted during a violent attack earlier in the week. The congregation worshipped inside the auditorium, still marked by evidence of the attack, reflecting the community’s grief and uncertainty.
According to a report by Punch Newspapers, church leaders used the service to clarify the true number of victims, confirming that 38 people were abducted—not more than 60, as widely circulated on social media. Church Secretary Michael Agbabiaka explained that the initial tally recorded 35 members, but further checks revealed that three non-members were also taken, bringing the confirmed number to 38.
Agbabiaka further noted that three individuals were killed during the attack, while one survivor remains hospitalized for injuries sustained. He emphasized the importance of accurate reporting to avoid escalating fear, urging the public to rely on verified information as security agencies continue their rescue efforts.
Church leaders and worshippers maintained a hopeful tone during the service, praying fervently for the safe return of their loved ones and the restoration of peace in the community.
