A woman identified as Regina from Kiambu County has opened up about the painful experiences that shaped her life and eventually led to the end of her marriage. She says the emotional wounds from her past and the betrayal she faced in her home pushed her to make difficult decisions for the sake of her children.
Regina revealed that her childhood was marked by trauma and a lack of protection from those she expected to support her. Feeling unsafe, she left home and stayed with friends before later finding work as a househelp. During this period, she met a man who married her, and together they welcomed three children. For years, their marriage remained stable and peaceful.
Trouble began when Regina travelled briefly to care for her sick mother. Upon returning, her children mentioned unusual happenings at home, including a close family friend spending the night. She did not confront her husband immediately, choosing instead to observe quietly. Days later, during a family ceremony in her village, her husband encouraged her and the children to stay as long as they wished. But when her youngest child started missing him, Regina decided to return home.
She arrived around 9 p.m. and found the house unlocked. When she entered the bedroom, she found her husband and her best friend together. Regina walked out calmly, waiting to process the harsh reality. Moments later, the friend left the house hurriedly while her husband attempted to apologise. Regina, however, told him the marriage was over.
Still hurting, she made decisions that further strained the relationship. When she eventually returned home, an argument broke out, and neighbours had to intervene after tensions escalated. For her safety, Regina moved back to her family home, where she now raises her children on her own.
She urges married couples to remain faithful, saying betrayal harms not only partners but also the innocent children caught in between.
