Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, has reacted to a viral video in which a Fulani man condemned the association of genuine Fulani herders with violence.
The footage, shared on Olayinka’s verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, quickly gained attention online. In the video, the unidentified man asserts that authentic Fulani men do not carry AK-47 rifles in the bush, saying, “A real and original Fulani man, you would never see him with an AK-47 rifle inside the bush.”
Olayinka commended the man’s courage and encouraged other Fulani leaders and youths to speak out against criminal elements that tarnish the community’s image. He also recalled his childhood in Okemesi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, where Fulani herders peacefully coexisted with locals.
He added, “Fulani leaders and youths should begin to speak out like this. Growing up in my hometown, Okemesi Ekiti then, we had Fulanis living among us. We used to run after their cows, singing Labalaba kooko, maalu kooko…”
The video has sparked a broader discussion about community responsibility and the need for leaders to publicly condemn acts of violence.
