Primate Elijah Ayodele has commented on the recent gathering of Southeast governors, noting that while the meeting itself was expected, its timing comes unusually late given the political dynamics in the region.
In a video shared on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Ayodele stated, “I’m not startled when I see the Southeast governors having a meeting; their meeting is late.” He suggested that while regional coordination is normal, the delay may reflect internal disagreements or hesitation over critical decisions, especially with the 2027 elections approaching.
The cleric emphasized that Nigerian politics involve complex negotiations and alignments. He warned that procrastination or indecision by regional leaders could result in missed opportunities and unintended consequences for their constituencies. Strategic timing, he noted, is essential for effective governance and political influence.
Ayodele also urged Southeast governors to prioritize unity and thoughtful planning above personal ambitions or rivalries. By fostering cohesion, he said, the leaders could strengthen the region’s political position and ensure their people are well-represented.
