A viral video circulating on TikTok has captured Pastor Oloruntimilehin Daramola urging his congregation to “get fortified” as a means of protecting themselves against potential attacks. The clip, posted on a TikTok page appearing to belong to the cleric (@kingbosoro), shows him dressed in a purple robe and cap, with a cross chain around his neck, delivering the message to his followers.
In the video, Daramola, who introduced himself as the Founder of The Omnipotence Mission of God, told members of his church to take proactive steps to safeguard themselves from armed attackers. He also called on the Federal Government to permit broader gun ownership among Nigerians, suggesting that citizens should have the means to defend themselves.
He referenced Nigeria’s historical amalgamation and hinted that, if the current national union proves unworkable, the country’s regions could consider peaceful separation. Moving on to practical advice, he told his followers, “You members, go and do something that can protect you, so that if they come with guns to your surroundings, they will face each other and shoot each other.”
Pastor Daramola also encouraged unconventional methods for protection, mentioning the use of bees or other defensive measures. He emphasized that failure to follow his instructions could result in expulsion from the church, stating, “Any of my members that I asked to use the charms and he doesn’t use it, I will chase him away because I cannot allow anybody to come and kill my children in my presence… Go and be fortified!”
The cleric cited past attacks on worshippers, including the St. Francis Catholic Church attack in Owo, Ondo State in 2022, where multiple worshippers were killed despite calling on Jesus for help. He also mentioned recent incidents, such as the November 2025 gun attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, and the abduction of over 300 children and staff from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State. These incidents highlight ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly targeting public places and worship centres.
While the video has gained attention online, independent verification of Pastor Daramola’s identity, claims, and the authenticity of the TikTok page remains unavailable. Nonetheless, the clip has sparked national discussions on personal security, church safety, and the broader insecurity situation in the country.
The pastor’s call underscores the fear and anxiety that many Nigerians face amid increasing violent attacks on communities, schools, and places of worship. It also reflects growing public concern over the adequacy of security measures and government intervention.
