Nollywood actress Haleemah Oluwatoyin has shared a deeply personal account of the abuse she endured during her marriage, revealing both physical violence and restrictions on her digital freedom.
In a recent interview on the TALK TO B Podcast, Oluwatoyin explained that her husband forbade her from accessing social media, including Facebook, leaving her unaware of its existence until five years ago. The abuse reportedly escalated when she requested access to her phone, leading to severe physical attacks.
Oluwatoyin described the violence as far more serious than typical marital disagreements. She recalled being beaten in ways that left lasting emotional and physical scars. “When he started beating me, it wasn’t like a husband and wife slapping each other—it was him banging my head against the wall or kicking me on the floor,” she said.
The actress also highlighted the emotional toll on her children, who often witnessed the attacks and cried helplessly as she was harmed. The experience, she said, was both traumatic and isolating, compounded by the restrictions placed on her communication with the outside world.
