A wedding celebration in Jibia, Katsina State, turned tragic just three days after the ceremony when groom Abubakar Abdulkarim, popularly known as Dan Gaske, was reportedly stabbed to death by his wife.
According to a report by Trust TV, Abdulkarim and his bride, Zainab Muhammad, were married on Thursday, November 20, in what relatives described as a peaceful and consensual ceremony. Family and friends had gathered to celebrate the union, but the joy ended abruptly when the groom was found dead at their home on Sunday, with a deep cut to his neck.
Authorities have taken Zainab into custody for questioning, and forensic teams are examining the scene for evidence. Neighbors and attendees expressed shock, noting that the couple had shown no signs of disagreement prior to the incident.
Investigators also reported the presence of bottles believed to contain drugs at the residence, though it remains unclear if they were linked to the tragedy. The community has called for calm and urged that the matter be handled through legal channels.
The family of the deceased appealed for justice without resorting to violence. Fahad Lawal, the groom’s brother, said, “Dangaske was my brother and close friend. They got married last Thursday. Some guests were still around when this happened. We found bottles of what looked like drugs in the house. We just want justice. That’s why we didn’t take the law into our hands.”
