We Know Who These Bandits Are, Where They Are, What They Want —Sen Maidoki Reveals What Is Happening

senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South, has urged decisive action and full accountability after the recent abduction and release of 24 schoolgirls in his constituency. Speaking during Wednesday’s Senate session, Maidoki expressed both relief and concern over the incident, stressing that while the girls are now safe, important questions remain unanswered.

“First of all, colleagues, I am very happy and sad at the same time. Happy in the sense that the 24 girls from Maga in my own constituency that were abducted have been released and they are all safe and healthy. They have not been molested,” Maidoki said, acknowledging the successful rescue.

However, the senator emphasised that the government must act with clarity and resolve. “We know who these bandits are. We know where they are. We know what they want. What is left for us to conclude if we are going to negotiate? Do it and finish it. If we are going to fight, we fight it to the finish. What are we covering?” he asked. Maidoki stressed the need for a firm approach to prevent recurrence of such attacks.

He also raised concerns about operational decisions that may have contributed to the abduction. “Sir, the issue that must take precedence is who withdrew the soldiers from the primary school, on whose instruction. The world wants to know, Nigerians want to know, we that are particularly affected, we want to know,” he said, calling for a thorough investigation to ensure accountability.

Senator Maidoki warned that without addressing these gaps, similar abductions could occur in the future.
