I’ve Not Seen Them Challenge El-rufai, Who Accused Uba Sani Of Paying ₦1b To Terrorist -Effiong

Nigerian lawyer and human rights advocate, Inibehe Effiong, has raised concerns over the lack of response to a serious claim made by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Effiong noted that the current administration under Governor Uba Sani has yet to publicly address El-Rufai’s allegation that ₦1 billion was allegedly paid to terrorists.

In an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Friday, November 28, 2025, Effiong emphasized that the accusation, made on national television, is too significant to ignore given its implications for public trust and national security. While he did not confirm the veracity of the claim, Effiong expressed concern over the absence of clarification or rebuttal from Governor Sani’s office.

He said, “I’ve not seen them come to challenge the former Governor, El-Rufai, who declared on national television a few days ago, accusing the governor of paying one billion to terrorists. I don’t even know whether that is true, but this is what the former governor said.”

The statement highlights ongoing political tensions in Kaduna State and the need for transparency in addressing serious public allegations.
