Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has shared candid insights into the ongoing family challenges he has faced, emphasizing patience, love, and discretion in handling sensitive situations. Speaking in an interview with AF24 News Stories, Fayose stressed the importance of maintaining dignity while protecting his mother’s wellbeing amid tense exchanges with siblings.
Recalling a chilling moment, Fayose said, “I told my mom, ‘If you die, where should you be buried?’ My siblings said, ‘I want to kill her.’” Despite such extreme statements, he explained that he has remained calm, focused on safeguarding his mother, and avoiding publicizing internal conflicts that could leave lasting impressions on future generations.
Fayose highlighted his dedication to his 86-year-old mother, noting that he has taken her on medical trips abroad, including to South Africa and Dubai, to ensure she receives proper care. He clarified that his actions are driven solely by love and duty, rather than public recognition. He also distinguished between his nuclear family—his wife and children—and his extended family, explaining that while tensions may exist, respect and affection remain intact.
Reflecting on ongoing disputes, Fayose admitted that insults and attacks from some relatives have persisted over the past year, yet he has chosen restraint over retaliation. He emphasized that silence and discretion are often the best strategies for managing family conflicts, particularly under public scrutiny.
He concluded by thanking Nigerians for their support during his recent birthday celebrations and reaffirmed his commitment to caring for his family while maintaining peace and dignity.
