Primate Elijah Ayodele, Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has expressed worry over Nigeria’s rising insecurity, urging the nation to focus on the deeper forces enabling kidnappings, killings, and organised criminal activity. He said lasting peace will only be possible when the true masterminds behind these crimes are confronted.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ayodele argued that national conversations often focus on isolated incidents rather than the systems and networks that empower criminal groups. He stressed that Nigerians must begin to ask more direct questions about how these operations are sustained and who benefits from them.
Without assigning blame to any community, the cleric noted that certain organised groups may be behind coordinated attacks in different regions, and avoiding honest investigation only prolongs insecurity. He added that identifying patterns, criminal financiers, and cross-regional networks should be a priority for authorities.
Ayodele called on the federal government to strengthen intelligence efforts, pursue the sponsors of violent crimes, and carry out justice without political interference. He maintained that Nigeria’s security agencies must address both the perpetrators and the structures supporting them if the country hopes to overcome insecurity.
