A man identified in viral reports as Isiya Kwashen Garwa — described in media coverage as a bandits’ commander — has appealed for dialogue and mutual understanding as communities and authorities continue grappling with insecurity in parts of the region. His comments were shared in a video circulated online and reported by Sahara Reporters.
Garwa said the ongoing tension has redirected the attention of all sides, stressing the need for compassion and collective responsibility. According to him, the situation should serve as a reminder that peace remains the only sustainable path.
He noted that conflict rarely produces lasting solutions, explaining that even major wars eventually end through negotiation. Garwa likened the crisis to disagreements within a single household, suggesting that cooperation is more productive than prolonged confrontation.
He further stated that many of the communities involved share long-standing ties and that violence cannot bring the desired outcome for anyone. He emphasized that unity and dialogue would be more effective in restoring stability.
Security agencies and government authorities have yet to issue an official response to the video, as efforts to address insecurity in the affected areas continue.
