The family of late site engineer Solomon Odeh has expressed frustration over the handling of the investigation into his death, saying the slow response from authorities has deepened their pain. Odeh was reportedly killed on November 7 after being mistaken for a thief by private security guards in Lagos.
Speaking to PUNCH on Saturday, November 29, 2025, his cousin Jackson Eje said the police did not act with the urgency expected in a case involving the death of an innocent man. He explained that despite the seriousness of the incident, the security company involved had not been officially informed by the police even three days later. By November 10, he said, the company had still not received a formal notification.
Jackson added that what worries the family most is that the main suspect has not been apprehended. He noted that there has been no visible effort toward the arrest, raising concerns about the commitment to ensuring justice. According to him, the delays and lack of clarity from the authorities have left the family feeling neglected.
He stressed that the communication gap reflects poorly on the investigative process, saying an incident of such magnitude should have been treated swiftly and professionally, especially with the family still mourning their loss.
