My Policeman Battled With Them Till His Bullets Finished, They Shot Him And Took His Rifle—Ngige

Former Governor Chris Ngige has recounted a harrowing attack on his convoy, revealing that the assailants were disguised in police and army uniforms. Speaking to ThisDay on Friday, November 28, 2025, Ngige explained that he was not in the convoy when the incident occurred.

According to Ngige, the attackers engaged his police security officer in a gunfight until the officer ran out of ammunition. The gunmen then shot the officer in the leg, seized his rifle, and stripped him of his uniform.

Ngige said the assailants verbally abused the policemen, claiming they were serving a “zoo government.” He added that the Governor of Anambra State has assured him that the attackers will be apprehended and brought to justice.

“They were all dressed in police and army uniforms, so my convoy driver dribbled them until they ran into a shop and they caught up with my police security men who battled with them until his bullets exhausted. They took away his rifle and his uniforms and that was after they shot him in the leg,” Ngige recounted.
