Jacob Ndugere, a single father of four from Naivasha, has shared the painful experience of discovering his wife cheating after he lost his job. The incident left him heartbroken and struggling to support his children alone.
Jacob explained that he met his wife while working as a fisherman on Lake Naivasha. They married after developing a friendship and were blessed with four children. Life was stable until he lost his job due to dangerous conditions on the lake, including capsized boats, strong winds, and attacks from hippos, which claimed the lives of five of his colleagues.
After leaving fishing, Jacob took up manual labor to provide for his family. However, financial struggles coincided with his wife’s change in behavior. A neighbor, who runs a small shop near their home, informed him that his wife had been bringing a man into their house. Jacob asked the neighbor to call him if it happened again. The next day, he received the call and returned home to find his wife with another man on their matrimonial bed.
He tried to remain calm to avoid violence, but efforts to resolve the situation through her parents were unsuccessful. Her mother told him she would take her daughter and leave the children with him, asserting that she had not married for the children’s sake. Four years later, Jacob has no contact with his wife and is focused on supporting his children. He is now appealing to anyone who can provide him with a job to help sustain his family.
