Agnes Wanjiku from Naivasha has recounted the shocking discovery that her husband had another wife after she had already given birth to three children. The revelation left her devastated and led her to leave the marriage to protect her dignity and her children.
Agnes explained that she met her husband in her village, where he told her that his first wife had passed away. They became friends, later lovers, and eventually formalized their relationship with family introductions. The couple rented a home and were blessed with three children. Agnes said her husband often traveled for work, leaving her to manage the household.
The truth came to light when a neighbor informed Agnes that her husband had another wife and children living near his parents’ home. Shocked, she confronted him, and he admitted the relationship. Unwilling to live as a second wife, Agnes decided to leave, taking her three children with her.
Since then, Agnes has been a single mother, raising her children independently. She urges other single mothers to respect themselves, noting that self-respect is key to earning respect from others.
