Armed men abduct six real estate marketers in the Obafemi-Owode area in Ogun – Omolola Odutola

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six real estate marketers in the Obafemi-Owode area, raising alarm over growing insecurity along rural property routes. The incident occurred on Thursday during a routine land inspection, turning what should have been a standard site visit into a dangerous hostage situation.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola explained that the victims had travelled from Lagos to inspect a parcel of land when armed men “emerged from the bush and seized them before anyone could react.” The attack was reported shortly after by colleagues who narrowly escaped the ambush.

Residents noted that the kidnappers, believed to operate across the forest belt spanning Ogun and neighbouring states, had been seen in the area days prior. “We heard motorcycles going into the forest at odd hours,” one resident recounted, highlighting patterns similar to previous incidents.

Authorities confirmed that a coordinated rescue operation is underway, involving the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, local vigilantes, and hunters. “An operation is underway,” Odutola said, assuring the public that every effort is being made to secure the safe release of the victims.

The abduction has sent shockwaves through the real estate community, which regularly conducts inspections in semi-rural areas. One agent, speaking anonymously, described the incident as “a severe blow to our work,” noting that property verification now carries unprecedented risks.
