Onochie Slams Tinubu Again, Accuses Him of Rewarding Buhari’s Opponents While Neglecting Loyalists

Former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie has again criticised the Tinubu administration, accusing the government of sidelining Buhari-era loyalists while empowering political figures she claims once opposed the former president.

Onochie, in a new public statement reported on Monday, described the current administration as one that encourages marginalisation and deepens political imbalance. This marks her second strongly worded message within three months addressed to her late former boss, Muhammadu Buhari.

She expressed concern over what she called a deteriorating national condition, adding that many citizens now openly say they “miss Buhari” due to rising economic hardship, insecurity, and social tensions. While admitting that the previous administration had its shortcomings, she commended Buhari’s discipline, modest lifestyle, and commitment to national unity.

Reacting to the recently released ambassadorial list, Onochie said the selection unfairly favoured the South-West, describing the distribution as “nepotism at its peak.” She highlighted the regional breakdown: South-South (3), North-West (5), North-Central (5), North-East (5), South-East (6), and South-West (11), arguing that such figures undermine national balance.

She also alleged that individuals who actively worked against the APC under Buhari are now being rewarded, while those who defended and supported the administration have been pushed aside. According to her, this growing discontent is uniting Buhari loyalists ahead of the 2027 elections.

Onochie, now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said her decision to join the party was driven by a desire to contribute to national “rescue efforts.” Her remarks add to ongoing internal tensions within the ruling party as political alignments continue to shift.
