Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Leader of the Church of Christ in Nations, has warned that the integration of repentant Boko Haram members into Nigeria’s security forces may be compromising national safety. Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, December 1, 2025, he alleged that some of these former insurgents continue to provide intelligence to active militants in the bush.
Dachomo linked the issue to rising insecurity and attacks on Christian communities, particularly in Plateau State. He expressed concerns over perceived imbalances in military recruitment and suggested the withdrawal of certain personnel to restore peace. His comments came amid discussions on alleged anti-Christian violence in the region, highlighting the frustration of affected communities.
Nigeria’s Operation Safe Corridor program, designed to deradicalize and reintegrate former Boko Haram militants, provides amnesty, vocational training, and community support. While some participants have successfully reintegrated, critics argue the program risks recidivism and overlooks victims’ trauma, raising concerns about long-term security.
Dachomo presented evidence of massacres, including images of affected children, underscoring the severity of the crisis. He urged more balanced approaches, including equitable recruitment in security forces and strengthened monitoring, to prevent further violence while supporting victims. International bodies, including U.S. lawmakers and the European Parliament, have expressed concern over religious freedom violations and the handling of reintegration programs.
