I saw some people sending me messages on WhatsApp; they want to protest for 10,000 jobs—Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has addressed concerns over youth unemployment, emphasizing that recruitment in the state will be guided by actual needs rather than political favoritism. Speaking during the opening of the 123rd and 124th Combined Quarterly Meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt, he stressed that employment opportunities cannot exceed the state’s infrastructure capacity.

Governor Fubara revealed that some individuals have reached out to him via WhatsApp, threatening to stage a protest demanding 10,000 jobs in Rivers State. “I saw some set of people sending me messages on WhatsApp; they want to protest for ten thousand jobs,” he stated, underscoring the importance of measured expectations.

He reassured citizens that civil service recruitment will be based on the genuine requirements of the state, rather than political considerations, and encouraged patience as his administration continues to implement policies aimed at improving employment and development across Rivers State.
